Casale degli Erei

Surrounded by verdant Sicilian countryside with vines, fichi d'India and woodland, Casale degli Erei is set around a beautiful stone courtyard. This traditional and charming area is the centre of the property.

From the courtyard your can enter the incredible spa. This is the ideal place for complete relaxation: chill out in the jacuzzi, or spend time in the Turkish bath or sauna. There's also a shower room. The spa has picture windows looking out over the pool area. Next to the spa is a small, private chapel, offering a peaceful place for reflection or a great location for an intimate wedding service. A beautiful roof terrace is a great choice for a spot of breakfast or an evening aperitivo.

The beautiful pool is set slightly apart from the main house, up a few stone steps. Surrounded by sunloungers, this is an idyllic spot to unwind. There's also a small hydro-massage pool above the main pool for an extra touch of relaxation.

The outdoor dining area is set between the pool area and the main house. A large covered dining table is the perfect place for al fresco meals, whilst the barbecue area and outdoor kitchen - with a traditional sink and even a wood-burning oven – provides a wonderful environment for outdoor cooking.

The property also has several charming patio areas with sofas and seating areas. Sit back, chill out and take in the countryside views.

Main House
Walk through the main door into the formal entrance hall with stairs up to the first floor. To the left is access to two sitting rooms – a formal reception room with traditional furniture and a smaller TV room with an open fireplace. To the right of the entrance hall you enter the dining room which leads to the kitchen. The kitchen itself has all that you could need and is decorated in a traditional Sicilian style. The kitchen also leads out to the barbecue area and outdoor dining area. A guest bathroom is under the staircase.
Walk up the stairs to the first floor. At the top of the stairs is a sitting room, with an open fireplace. From here three bedrooms are accessible: two double ensuite bedrooms and one single bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom. Two other double ensuite bedrooms are found on either side of the staircase. One with a shower and the other with a bath.

Guest House
Three modern double bedrooms are accessed from the courtyard. Each bedroom has their own ensuite bathroom with a shower. A fourth double bedroom with its own entrance from the courtyard is also found in the Guest House – this fourth bedroom has its own seating area, kitchenette and ensuite bathroom with shower.

Annex

There are two further bedrooms outside the main villa’s courtyard. Found on the first floor and accessible via a private staircase, both bedrooms have double bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms with showers.

Beaches

Despite its inland location, you can set off on an adventure and find some beautiful beaches. Jump in the car and head east and visit La Playa beach in Catania. This large sandy beach has lots of lidos and also free areas. Or you could visit Brucoli, a small seaside town with clear water and views of Mount Etna. The Riviera dei Ciclopi is also worth a visit. This marine nature reserve has clear waters and imposing seastacks creating a beautiful view and hosting an abundance of sealife. 

Towns & Sights

The villa is very close to Piazza Armerina. This is a traditional rural town with some pretty churches, but is most well-known due to the Villa Romana del Casale. This Roman villa has some of the best-preserved mosaics in the world. Caltagirone is another lovely small town that isn’t far from the villa. It is famous for its ceramics, and the town centre is covered in colourful tiles. Pick up some souvenirs from the local workshops. Further afield you can visit the Val di Noto and its towns like Ragusa and Modica, or hit Catania, Sicily’s second city with a vibrant market and fun nightlife. 

Activities 

Casale degli Erei offers so much in the villa with its private spa and pool to be enjoyed. You can also enjoy an in-villa cook service, a cookery class, a pasta-making class, or a pastry-making class in the villa. Foodies will love these experiences that really show you the best of traditional Sicilian cooking and recipes. If you want to get out and about then you could arrange a tour of Catania, during which you’ll see the best sight the town has to offer, or a tour of a local winery. Taste the local wines, and buy some bottles for the rest of your holiday!
